Age
• Horror films age varies from 15 years or above to 18 years and above
• Extreme horror films including severe violence and gory scenes tend to be 18 and over.
• Teenagers and young adults are the most common types of target audience film producers aim to target at, as they know these type of viewers will get thrills throughout a horror film and enjoy the tension built through out the film
Gender
• Majority of horror film fans are Males typically because they love the suspense and thrill out of these types of movies
• Violence and gore occur often during horror films which males can take and are thrilled from, however females aren’t so supportive with this category hence why majority of females are not horror film fans
Class
* Horror films are generally targeted at a middle class audience. This is because the cost watching a horror film is relatively cheap but also as this class tend to enjoy the thrill they get out of horror films in comparison to an upper class audience, they wouldn’t be interested in such genre and would much prefer a different genre for film such as Romance or action.
Groups of audience
* Groups of audience are target at groups such as friends or even couples. These types of groups are the most common groups that film producers aim to target at when creating a horror film. This is typically because friends usually get a bigger percentage of thrills out of watching a horror with friends rather than on their own but also, Couples are a very popular target audience to watch horror films because men enjoy taking their partner to a horror movie as they can enjoy it together but more importantly the fact the females don’t need to be worried about the ‘scary scenes’, as they have their partner next to them.
Conclusion of my target audience
* Overall to conclude, I think targeting my target audience from an age range of 16-24 (young adults) of males, would be ideal. This is because, this type of audience would much prefer the thrill generated in horror films whereas females don’t supposedly support this concept, however, my target audience will also target towards couples too. This is strictly because couples enjoy watching horror films together as they feel more ‘safe’ with each other, so this would increase the chances of gaining viewers and increase the chances of targeting more couples to watch horror films.
